| I cheat and use either chicken breast or the meat from a rotisserie chicken and simmer for several hours with celery, carrots, mushroom and maybe a few other veggies. Then I add whatever veggies I have in the house and spaghetti (broken up into small pieces) about 30 minutes before serving. I let it cool and serve with fruit. Here is a post from previously: - Something_To_Believe_In wrote:
- My dinners never look as pretty as Davies. But, here is the chicken noodle soup I made for my guys a few days ago:
Chicken, celery, carrots, red bell pepper, corn, peas, snap peas in pod, butternut squash, broccoli, mushroom, green beans, and spaghetti noodles. They LOVED it!

| I had corn on the cob tonight for dinner, so I decided to cut a chunk off and give it to my gliders. They're going to town on it even as we speak. | |

| Tonight was my late night at work, so I prepared for the gliders dinner last night. Tonight they are having
Staple mix (VGV) sunshine slaw, shelled English peas, cucumber, green pepper, bok choy, celery, corn, french green beans and a smoothie made from apple, strawberry, pineapple, mango, peach, blueberry and banana. A few sunflower seeds as a treat ( my mother says it is mean not to offer dessert)

| Look at this yummy goodness I made for the gliders tonight! I boiled some chicken breast and then shredded it. Threw in a few chopped tomatoes, some red bell pepper and mushrooms and then simmered for about 6 hours. I then added some more water and carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, zuccini and Italian beans and brought to boil. Reduced heat and simmered for a bit. Then, again added a bit of water and added 1 cup of frozen mixed veggies, chopped collard greens and thin spaghetti broken into inch or so long pieces. I brought to a boil again and then reduced the heat and simmered till most of the water was gone. I allowed it to cool and then served with cucumber, corn, green beans, carrot, jicama, bok choy, peas, apple, pear, grape, apricot and peach. Not sure what I might call this, but the glider sounds of joy I am hearing make "Yummy Goodness" a pretty good name!

| How did everyone eat this, Val? I know you said you had good sounds coming from the glider room - was it a hit?? I've tossed things together like this before but not nearly this intense! LOL Looks like you left some of the broth in there, as well. Yum! | |

| My gliders have decided that scrambled eggs are only good if there are chopped tomatoes cooked into them. | |

They licked their bowls clean. Even my more picky gliders ate every bit. Yes, I did leave some of the broth. They loved it!

| Very neat! It looks fantastic - like something I'D like to eat LOL. I'm always telling others how they should be creative and have fun with dinner. My guys get a fantastic variety of food so I'll never feel bad for what they get, but I definitely could take the time to do something like this to change things up a bit. It's a great idea. Thank you. :) | |

| Last weekend, grandma fed the gliders while Jeff & I were out of town and she admitted to overfeeding a bit - particularly if she saw that a dish was missing a certain fruit or veggie and she'd add it. I think the babies are disappointed that grandma isn't still feeding them!
While we were gone, the gliders were fed: Sugar Snap Peas Carrots Sweet Potatoes Jicama Cucumber Green Bell Pepper Grape Tomatoes Frozen Mixed Berries Apples HPW Complete
Last night, they had: Broccoli Slaw Strawberries Cantaloupe HPW Complete.
Tonight it will be: Broccoli Slaw Frozen Mixed Berries Scrambled Eggs.

| Lol! So understandable!
Mama needs to do a little grocery shopping - thank goodness I found a guy that understands the need for shopping for fresh fruits and veggies while we barely eat any of that and usually frozen when we do! Lol!

| Goodness...everyone will just shake their head at me for this one About 2 weeks ago, I bought some frozen mixes of vegetables (Steamfresh veggies) to have on hand for those lazy nights. I bought a new one, an oriental mix of baby corn, snow peas, broccoli and carrots. I took it out to feed that evening and then realized I had other veggies that I needed to use first, so I tossed the mix into a ziploc and stuck it back in the freezer. Fast forward to two nights ago. I pulled out the frozen mix in the ziploc and tossed it in a bowl, along with several other fruits and veggies, mixed it all together and let it sit on the counter to thaw a bit. An hour or so later, at feeding time, I went to mix it up again before serving and - there was this brown, sticky stuff all over everything!!! Stuck my finger in to taste it and what do you know - teriyaki!! What I missed on the package was the fine print, stating that the vegetables were in an "oriental sauce". The following day, I went to the store and checked the ingredients and though they are definitely not things I would normally feed to the monkeys (nor will I feed that mix again for that very reason), one night clearly didn't hurt things and in fact, Chinese Night in the Darling household was a HUGE hit! | |
