| the veggie selection at the stores around me sucks, so i use mostly frozen veggies for mine.
last night my kiddos had there usual HPW and frozen veggie mix plus fresh cucumber they also got some pink lady apple, jimica(sp?), pirickly pear (yup they are in season again :-)) and bean sprouts, but i found out this morning none of them like bean sprouts :-(.

| Tonight my gliders are having: Roasted chicken (I was lazy and bought it at the store when I went) Veggies: sweet potato, corn, sugar snap peas (fresh, not frozen), green beans, jicama, cucumber, bell pepper (yellow and green) and bok choy Fruit: Apple, canteloupe, pineapple, peach, plum and grapes. They will also each be getting a raw, unsalted sunflower seed or two for dessert. - Quote :
- Sunshine Slaw & Broccoli Slaw (thank you, Val, for introducing me to this stuff!)
I love it too. Sure makes it easy on nights when time is short. Sadly, many of my gliders are on a broccoli strike right now.

Veggies: sweet potato, corn, sugar snap peas (fresh, not frozen), green beans, jicama, cucumber, bell pepper (yellow and green) and bok choy I have never fed this since I do not like it do you cook the Sweet Potato? Do you feed corn on the cob or kernel cooked or not?
Fruit: Apple, canteloupe, pineapple, peach, plum and grapes. These I can handle just fine LOL They will also each be getting a raw, unsalted sunflower seed or two for dessert. In shell or out of shell never fed these either

| I feed sweet potato raw.
Corn I feed any which way depending on the day, but most of the time it is frozen corn that I throw into the bowl after chopping everything just to fill it up.
Sunflower seeds in the shell. Make sure they are raw and unsalted and just hide them in the cage. If you have never done this, you really should! It is so cute to watch gliders with them!

| I cook my sweet potatoes only because they won't touch them raw. Don't know why.
My gliders loooooove sunflower seeds in the shell! Bindi can get those shells open in less than one second but the other three take a few seconds. LOL

| Tonight will probably be a modified version of HPW original, red pepper, green pepper, yellow beans, green beans, and mixed berries.
Last night it was honeydew melon and pineapple for the fruits, and sugar snap beans, carrots, and broccoli for the veggies.

Tonight we did treat night, so they got some trail mix, a bit of frozen fruit, Staple, and mixed veggies and fresh bell pepper.

| Nope. Been feeding raw for almost 5 years now without any bacteria problems. It's more in the way the meat is handled than the source. | |

| Ground Turkey Raw Goat's milk Frozen mixed veggies (being lazy tonight) Starfruit Papaya Ayurvedic Spice Mix for Cooling (teensy bit) Ingredients: Fennel, Coriander, Rose buds, Sweet Chinese cinnamon, Natural sweet vanilla powder (All 100% Organic) http://www.chandika.com/products/Mom%27s-Kid-%252d-Super-Spice-Mix.htmlReason for the spice mix? I finished my certification in Animal Nutrition and am now working on becoming a certified Ayurvedic specialist for animals to complement the nutrition. I now have three vets: local, Oklahoma State professor working with me on the raw diet, and a complimentary medical specialist. I'm even going to a traditional Indian doctor for myself! :) If anyone wants info on the complimentary mixes that go into the food, let me know and I will dig it up for you. | |

| Okay, tonight is boooooooring! HPW Complete with green juice, frozen mixed veggies, and apples and blueberries. However, I am going to liven things up tomorrow! I did it! I bought a green bell pepper! I think the only times my babies have ever had peppers is down in Texas thanks to Val. This thread and the online video experience with Val about food has made me realize just how much my gliders have been missing out on and just how stocked my grocery store is fruit and veggie-wise. Sadly, I am sorta broke at the moment, so I splurged and bought the following today (but am now thinking that if I can keep things fresh in the fridge or even freeze them, it'd be so much cheaper to buy fresh and whole and chop and mix myself!):
Bananas (they've probably only had bananas like 2 or 3 times, if that, since I have had them) Cantaloupe (almost a staple - they all LOVE their cantaloupe - they take after grandma & grandpa in that as mama HATES cantaloupe...lol) (I'm going to cut up and mix the following:) Sweet Potato Cucumber Carrots Green Bell Pepper
Please keep these posts coming! If I had more money, I would have purchased a LOT more fruits and veggies today & I love hearing about the different ones that are available. I really couldn't believe how much my grocery store had to offer when I finally decided to open my eyes and ignore my own pickiness - I really don't like very many vegetables and only some fruit & the ONLY fruits and veggies that I have bought for my gliders that I don't like are cantaloupe, honeydew, sweet potatoes, and blueberries. Time to stop thinking about what I like and start thinking about what the gliders may enjoy!

| Brenda, I agree, I bought some rainbow mix because I saw you and Val mention it on here. I forget about it!
Tonight was boring here, too, Staple, Watermelon triangles, rainbow mix, with some extra mixed veggies. The gliders sound happy, though.

| Brenda, it is hard for me too. I hate -and I mean HAAAATTTTEEEE - mushrooms. But, my gliders love them, so they get them. They also get melons, tomatoes, green beans, nopales, mango, papaya and green peas - NONE of which I like.
Tonight my gliders got:
Staple mix (VGV)
apple, pear, plum, blueberry, mango, orange
cucumber, corn, carrot, celery, mung bean sprouts, bok choy, nopales, mushroom, green beans, green peas
A few pieces (each) of a high quality dog kibble

| LOL Will. I got those bowls from Petco. They were on clearance $10 marked down to $2.99. They're great for my glider kitchen, gives them more room to cram inside. lol They're nice and heavy too.
BrendaBoo! You have no idea how delicious that chicken salad was! For us (the peeps of the house) I added fresh tarragon, curry, big chunks of chicken, grapes (instead of the berries), walnuts (instead of the pine nuts).....MMMMM! It was so good. The glider's version was even good, I tested it while making it and let me tell you...this morning I've never seen such a barron glider kitchen. They over indulged themselves. It's bare. I swear they all laid around last night rubbing their tummies and smoking cigars!

| Lol! I believe it!
Well, my little fresh mix of green bell pepper, sweet potato, cucumber, and carrot seems to have been a big hit. All dishes licked clean except for my little trio who I am currently overfeeding due to a certain glider (Bobbi) who became food aggressive while I was away 2 weekends ago. Even they only had a few pieces of veggies leftover. Today, one of the guys at work brought some stuff from his garden and I snagged some zucchini...gonna chop that up and add it to the mix tonight. Okay, so I'll be saving the bigger of the zucchinis out for me because I don't think I've ever had zucchini (aside from in bread or cookies) & the sauteing in olive oil, salt, & pepper that the guy mentioned sounds too good not to try! I'm thinking opening my mind about veggies for the gliders may just help me open my mind about some for myself (never mushrooms, though! Blech! I'll probably buy some for the gliders, but not for me!!). I am really going to try to buy more fresh fruits and veggies and see what I can make with them for myself as well as feeding the gliders a fresher (& I'm pretty sure cheaper!) meal.

| I know right? It's like watching gliders who haven't eaten for weeks or something. They'll probably devour it by morning. Glad they liked it. | |
