| I will take him to the vet, but what are your opinions? | |

| I asked Kristy to come post over here. He has two spots on his tail that looks like he's overgrooming and she said the skin looks bruised. I told her to contact Rita to see if Rita's vet is close to her but in the meantime, if someone could help her out with what to do, that would be awesome! | |

| When you get to the vet, be sure to have x-rays taken. Until then, keep a very close eye on the glider. Don't allow any SMing. Tails sometimes look like this when they have been broken. Can you get us a picture of the whole glider? What kind of wheel do you use? How many cage mates does this glider have? What kind of doors does your cage have? How large is your cage? How often are you changing cage pouches? What kind of toys do you have in the cage? | |

| Everything I got as far as toys are from Sun Coast Sugar gliders, I have a Wodent wheel, he is a lone glider, but I recently got two more boys that I hope to introduce him to. I just want to make it clear that he was given to me as a lone glider, I didn't just get one.
The cage is a bit too small for a single glider, so I usually take him out to play for a good chunk of the night. I'm working on building a cage for him.
Since hes a intact male, I try to not change the pouch too often, just enough to keep it clean and him happy.
And toys I have gotten him are rope toys, theres a 'leafy vine' that hangs in there, his wheel, and I had also gotten a tree log that has been hollowed out . All from suncoast gliders. | |

| Does the wodent wheel have one of those surrounding sleeves across the center bar or just the bare bar? | |

| Well, I'm no expert or vet but I can say...until someone else comes along to help you...that there have been many tail injuries due to the center bar in the wodent wheel. Their tails are so long and there has been numerous reports of it getting wrapped, twisted and caught on it. (even broken) I believe you can purchase the center protective cover to keep this from happening. I personally, got rid of my Wodents a few years ago as I saw one of my gliders fall from the top and hit the bar with her back. I switched to Stealths after that, they are great and have no dangerous bar. (easier to clean too, poop falls right through instead of sitting in the wheel)
You really should take him in though, there's a very good chance that he injured his tail on that bar. If it's broken, well you'll only know by an x ray. It almost appears as though he's licking the fur off of it which would be indicitive of an injury of that nature. If it continues to bother him, it could turn to self mutilization.
Now there could be other things wrong but in my not so expert opinion, I'd assume that's what happened. Take him to the vet, they can rule out other things if that's not the case.

| I called the vet and he said the same thing. He said it could be skin irritation and to rub ointment on it until I can take him in. The vet has evening hours, so I'll take him in Tuesday. | |
