The SUGAR Group's Memorial Quilts

Have you lost a beloved sugar glider? Has someone you know had a glider go to the Rainbow Bridge and you want to do something to help comfort them, but just don't know what to do? Unfortunately for us, gliders have a relatively short lifespan. The gliders that have touched our lives will remain in our hearts forever, but there is also a way they can be memorialized for others to see and for us to know that they will not be forgotten.

The SUGAR Group will be selling squares for the 2009 Memorial Quilt from Now - 06/15/10. The squares are $20.00 apiece and will be sewn together into a beautiful quilt which can be sent to and displayed at any glider gathering or special event. You can purchase a square by sending your money via paypal to sugargroup@hotmail.com. Be sure to include the glider's name and date of passing with your payment.

For those who would like to memorialize gliders who have passed prior to 2009, we are also selling squares at any time, in order to make more quilts for those gliders who were lost in various years. Once we have 16-20 squares, a quilt will be made and another one will be started. It's a sad fact that we outlive these precious creatures and many have lost their cherished furbabies. We would like to give everyone the opportunity to have their treasured memories put in a timeless piece of art to be shared by all.

I just wanted to point out that this quilt is one of the ways that we fund the Necropsy Effort throughout the year. (For any wondering what the money is used for).


I have lost 4 gliders since Christmas day. For me, this is a very real, personal and tangible way to remember them while still helping a great cause.

Val i think this is a great way to remember our lost babies. Just how many Haley squares can 1 quilt hold, I'd happily fill one up myself. Lord I still cry for her she was everything to me.

The 2011 Quilt will feature a special piece of artwork on the squares. We are very happy to be able to add this feature to our quilts and are grateful to a very special artist in our community for creating this special piece for us.


We will also have a special art piece for the 2012 quilt.

The 2011 quilt made its first showing at the 2012 RRRoundup. It is a beautiful piece of art which honors those gliders who selflessly gave to research so that others will have a better life.

It is beautiful and so are the others, although I am partial to purple.

The SUGAR Group will be closing sales for 2012 quilt squares at the end of this month so that the quilt can be made before the RRRoundup. If you lost a glider in 2012 (whether or not you had a necropsy) and you want to honor him/her with a square on the quilt, then please visit our website ASAP and purchase your square. You can see pictures of previous years' quilts and see how beautiful they are. These quilts travel the nation all year being displayed at various glider gatherings in honor of our beloved gliders who have passed away. You can also purchase for a friend if you want to give them this gift. ;)

If you had a glider pass before this year and would like to add them to a quilt, you can do that as well. We have a quilt just for that purpose! ;)
