| Some have used Emu Oil to treat various wounds and pain in gliders. Personally, I have used it to provide anti-inflammatory relief after surgery and for the treatment of wounds. Information on emu oil (from: http://www.uniquelyemu.com/emuoil.htm ) - Quote :
- pure emu oil works well for many conditions because of several reasons. First of all it is a natural non-irritating transdermal oil - which means is has the unique ability to penetrate deep into the skin tissue all the way to the cellular level without irritating sensitive tissue. Second it is an anti-inflammatory - so as it penetrates it helps to relief inflammation not only on the surface of the skin but deep into the muscles and joints as well. Third it is a wonderful moisturizer - our pure emu oil actually replenishes the skins natural oils and adds vital moisture to dry, damaged tissue. Fourth it contains the Omega 3, 6, and 9. Omega 3 and 6 are essential fatty acids (EFA's) that the body must get from an outside source. Fifth our pure emu oil is proven to be a transdermal carrier - this gives emu oil the ability to carry other added ingredients along with it into the body. These amazing characteristics make our pure emu oil one of the most versatile natural products on the market today with a wide range of applications and benefits. Our pure emu oil is Non-Toxic, Hypo-Allergenic, Non-Comedogenic, a Non-Ocular Irritant and Bio-Degradable.
Research is currently being conducted regarding the use of Emu Oil in the following areas: Anti-Aging Pain Management Burn Treatment Arthritis Relief Hair Loss Cholesterol Reduction Weight Control Inflammation Cancer Treatments and more I believe that we might see emu oil used in a variety of ways within holistic veterinary treatment in the near future.

| Question: I know it says it's non-toxic BUT, I want to get your further opinion. Would you suggest only to use this with a glider in a collar ~ on areas they can't reach with the collar on?
I'd definitely like to hear from others as well who have used emu oil on their gliders. May be a good additon to my care-kit.

| I have not used it on gliders, but we have a good friend that had an Emu farm until recently when he sold it. The products they produced and sold were incredibly...from pain reliever, to acne treatement, to meat. We have body lotion, topical pain reliever and acne treatment. I know what it does for our skin and it's pretty amazing! | |

| I regularly use it on a couple of gliders - neither are in e-collars. I also use it on my dog's hot spots, on my hands and feet when they get dry and cracked, and on a wound on one of my birds. None of us have been in e-collars. | |
