| Just so you know I had a bad exerience with my first Sugar Glider from Pocket Pets that have scarred me and still haunts me. So I adopted 3 rescued Sugies, mom and dad will be 3yo this mnth and daught 2 next month. They have gained weight since I got them 2 months ago. 130 - up 20 gms for dad 85 - up 10 gms for mom 75 - up 5 gms for daughter Their fur are nice and soft and not crackly. I feed them Australian Wombaroo 4 ice cubes (6-8tsps) 2 oz veggies and 2 oz fruit 3 tsps carnivore 3 tsp nectar They will drink their frmula, but most nights wont eat their fruits/veggies and carnivore. I tried mixing veggie/fruits with nectar, then with HPW - this one they did not touch at all. Wokes up next day it was still full, I fed them formula right away which they gobbe up. So I started using knudsen mega green and fruit juice mix instead of water for the formula. I still feed them regular portions of fruits/veggies. Is this ok? I know you're supposed to feed variety, but they only eat certain fruits/veggies and I cant feed them the same ones every night right? I know Im stressing myself on their diet but I just want them to eat their fruits/veggies. I tried making them into smoothie too. | |

| Have you tried contacting the Wombaroo company with these questions? What suggestions did they have for you? | |

| Gliders will fill up on juice, just so you know. That will kill them eating anything else that isn't "candy" to them. | |

| Sorry I wasnt able to get back here sooner, was really busy last weekend. Ok, so we discussed my suggies diet and the way Im feeding them. It kinda looks like I might be feeding them more of their staple (HPW) formula that maybe thats why they are not eating as much of their fruits/veggies. So the plan for the next 2 days is to feed them fruits and veggies, cut up in smaller sizes, like a slaw and minced up some chicken and mix it all in. I started it last night and they did ok. Still didnt finish the whole 3 oz of servings, but they were eating it. Only thing is it looks like they were hungry this morning when I woke up as they were eagerly waiting for me, I just gave them kisses and I think when they realized they were not getting anything from me, they went to their plate and ate more of their veggie/fruits. They definitely ate more of their veggie/fruit last night than normal. Im gonna have to tough it out and do it again tonight.
ps, every morning I give them about 2-3 yoggies and or dried mealies.
Thanks! | |

| Are following this feeding plan? http://www.thegliderinitiative.org/Australian%20Wombaroo%20Diet.pdfor are you feeding the HPW Diet mixed following these directions http://www.gliderdad79.com/hpw.phpto make the cubes you are feeding each night? Your first post states you feed 4 ice cubes (6-8tsps) - have you measured the ice cube volume? Most ice cube trays hold at least a full TABLESPOON per cube. Some hold almost 2 TBS. If the cubes are 1 tablespoon then 4 ice cubes would be close to 12 teaspoons. For 3 gliders 4 cubes of either recipe may be too much. You also said you are offering 2 ounces fruit and 2 ounces vegetables for 2 gliders. The general rule of thumb for most diets is 1 TBS fruit and 1 TBS vegetables per glider. 2 ounces is 4 TBS so you could also cut back a bit on the amount you offer. They may be eating more fruits and vegetables that it appears from the generous portion offered. | |

| Candy, I think, well no I know I am feeding them too much I am still overcompensating from the stories I heard about them before they were rescued, No food for sometimes over 36 hours. That's why I was adviced to back off a bit on the staple. My ice cube is 1 tablespoon, I did measure it out before. Now I just realized my math is off, Im thinking 1 oz of Fruits and Veggies. Thanks for clarifying that for me. I am still stressed out about his whole diet and food thing. I know I shouldnt but that one bad experience really made me so paranoid. I will eventually, get this straight and not obsessed too much about this. | |

| Just take a deep breath and relax. Putting too much food out is not a big deal, you just end up throwing a lot away.
You did not say which feeding plan you are using. It just sounded to that you might be making HPW (with egg, honey, water and bee pollen) rather than just mixing Wombaroo High Protein Supplement with water as directed in the Australian Wombaroo Feeding Plan.
The additional foods you listed go with the Australian Wombaroo Diet. | |

| Nancy STOP worrying so much. You have a great mentor and your babies really were not THAT neglected. All of us have forgotten to put a plate in a cage for a day or so. It makes us feel terrible, but gliders don't have those kind of feelings. They aren't holding a grudge or stressing every day thinking that you aren't going to feed them. These gliders were not loved, but they weren't starved or anything.
ENJOY them and stop stressing so much. People don't believe it, but you really CAN stress your gliders INTO a health issue. If they are gaining weight, then they aren't starving. Work with your mentor to adjust your portions over time and don't allow yourself to get confused or distracted by the many people who will come along to offer advice.

Val, thank you for the advice, I guess I'll just trust the weighing scale for now as its telling me they are gaining weight. They look healthy, active and seems to be happy.
