| I am brand new to this forum, and I am not sure if I am posting this question correctly.
I have been caring for a premie orphan joey for 22 days now. She has been doing really well. Her oop date if her mother would have lived was on Dec. 21st 2012. She had a twin brother but, sadly, he died on Dec. 10th 2012.
I have been researching online and talking with other people who raise sugar gliders on what is the best way to care for this orphan, and they have told me it is very rare that a pink joey would survive. So far little Miracle has done just that -survived and she continues to do well. My question, therefore, is about what I should expect in her development. She has already opened her eyes early and she has not become fully furred. Is there other formulas I should be feeding her? I have her currently on wombaroo milk replacer mixed with esbiliac puppy milk replacer and pedialyte? Yesterday she was having trouble she was not eating well and acted like she had a tummy ache. So far today she has been eating like normal...any advice is appreciated thank you.

| At this point, you don't need to change a thing. Continue what is working with her. If you suspect that she is bloating, then you can try some of the mylicon drops as directed on Suz's site.
Good luck with this little one!

| Sounds like you are doing everything you can for this little one. I'm glad you are also contacting those who are knowledgeable in breeding and babies. There are so many people in this community who are able to help with so many things. I'm hoping for the best for you and the baby. | |

Heidi Now I am not saying not to take your joey to the vets (wait yes I am) but I would not do so until he/she is older. My reason for this is she is sooooo tiny and she could catch something very easily at the vets. There are so many things floating around at the vets and she has very little to no immune system yet. IMO you are doing 100% everything you can for him/her at this point and taking him/her in at this point IMO would be too big of a risk. I would wait if it were my joey. Just getting a chill while being examined could kill him/her. Please rethink a vet visit at this time.

| I was going to suggest the same thing as Brenda. I don't think she needs to be "checked out" unless you think she is ill. Otherwise, I wait for any and every joey to go to the vet until they are at least 8 weeks old and weaned. | |

| I will cancel the vet visit I don't want to expose her to something dangerous thank you for the advice on this I will wait until she is 8 weeks or older before I take her in....What is a good thing to tell the vet when I call to cancel? It is a vet teaching hospital and they may wonder why I am canceling. Oh and another question when I try to feed my little joey she gets formula on her nose and sneezes it out I try to wipe it off but I am worried that she is inhaling some too? This has just started this week because she is now licking the formula from the feeding syringe she no longer suckles it. Thank you again Heidi | |

| I would just tell them you decided to wait to bring her in as she is so vulnerable right now being so small. They should understand.

| Hi everyone I just wanted to update you on Miracle she is doing great I did cancel the vet appointment with no problems yeah! Miracle weighs 14 grams she eats a lot at every feeding she has started to get darker skin on her back I am hoping this means she is going to start growing more fur....She crabbed for the first time last night when she heard my keys make noise she is growing so fast I am a proud momma for sure. Tomorrow makes four weeks of taking care of my little Miracle she has come a long way from a pink transparent preemie, about an inch long to almost three inches long counting her tail she might be longer I haven't measured her officially. She has taken a lot of my time and energy but worth every second for sure, I have changed my routines to keep this little angel alive. On Christmas eve morning she opened her eyes. I have only been owned by sugar gliders since Sept. 2012... Heidi | |

| I am so sorry to inform everyone that ♥Miracle♥ passed away this morning between 3:00am and 4:30am I am not sure why or how....my heart is so so very heavy right now and I cannot stop crying she was my baby. I put all my love and care into her for six long and wonderful weeks, watching her develop and grow...she was like my child and it feels like I lost my child this morning....I cannot bear to even think of having a necropsy done on my little baby it hurts too much I feel that she should be left in peace. I will bury her later today, please respect my wishes not to have necropsy done on her I would rather not know how she died, just knowing it was her time to join her twin brother and be with their mother over the rainbow bridge. :'( Rest in Peace my sweet little ♥Miracle♥ you will always be remembered by so many. | |

| Oh NO. I was following this miracle and your dedication to your Miracle. So sorry and don't beat yourself up over it. You did everything you humanly possible and gave her time here to be loved on and Miracle got to enjoy live with you. No matter how short or long we have our babies, a loss is never easy. Art | |
