| This is a true question - I am really trying to understand the thoughts behind it. So, the question is --- why do so many vendors place photos of someone's special order on their page or group pages on FB? Is it to show off their products? To hopefully generate more sales? What is the purpose of including the customer's name? I'll just share my personal thoughts. I feel that when I purchase something from someone, that is a private transaction between myself and them, and not public business. When I see people doing this, I just make a mental note not to purchase from them. Frankly, I don't want or need the whole glider world knowing if/when I spend my hard earned money on glider items from this vendor or that. Can you imagine if stores posted a photo of your purchase on their public site? LOL. Imagine, Walmart posts a photo with this caption: "Val Betts visited our store in Borger today and made this amazing purchase of a new hair brush, dog treats, 5W40 Penzoil oil, toilet paper and tampons. Thank you for shopping with us Val" In all seriousness..... just wondering why things are going this way with so many vendors these days. I have a "previously made/sold items" page on my website and album on my FB page, but I never link them to someone's name as the customer. I kinda feel that would be..... wrong. Maybe because I don't want my business put out there like that. I bet some of you all will say it doesn't bother you at all, huh? Come on! Tell me your thoughts! And, if you are a vendor that does this, tell me why, please! | |

| I agree. I see no reason to be telling the world who is spending money where and on what. | |

| I think for the vendor it can create more buzz around their product. Tag one person and everyone on their friends list will see it too if it's public.

| I was just thinking even Amazon is doing this though, but they ask you if you want to tell your Facebook friends what you just purchased. I guess it's all about free advertising. | |

| I would definitely hope they have gotten permission first, but yeah - I have also noticed this and find it kind of odd. | |

| I agree with CAtherine as it gives peopel an idea of what people can create.
I do not agree with this at all. First off it is my creation you are custom making for me. If I choose to show the public what you made for me that is my right. I also think it is an open invatation for some to say "hey can you make me such and such an item like you made for so & so, maybe I did not want some one to have one just like mine??
I think unless you have permission to show the piece then it should not be done. JMO

| I agree with Cat too. I think the newer the vendor, the more they want to generate awareness of their products. I would think if customers minded, they'd say in private. At least I'd think so. I don't do it though. I'd feel weird. | |

| This happened to me recently. I did a special order and the customer posted it on FB. Of course, with out my permission, and suddenly I had two people wanting the same thing. When I explained it was a special order and that I couldn't get the fabric in the time frame they wanted they were upset. One person never ordered. I found a similar design for the second person.
When I make special orders, I put a lot of time and effort into making it special for that person. I wish the customer would ask if it is alright to post. I did have someone local I did a big order for and she asked about posting on her now fb page. I told her yes, but she needed to stress that some of the items were special order and the fabric was not available.
I know customers are excited about their stuff and want to show it off but when it's a custom order they need to state that. Stating that is also a good advertisement for the vendor as it lets others know that this vendor does do custom work.

| I think the people who buy the product should be able to choose to share or not. Better yet the vender should suggest (in private message, ect.) that the person who buys should post a picture with the product in use. To me if I was another customer I would be much more tempted to buy a product seeing it in use then just seeing the finished product. | |

| I don't have any issue with a customer posting their purchase. Once you buy it, you can do whatever you like with it. And, as Morgan stated, it is good advertisement for the vendor. I wish everyone that purchased from me would post how excited they are about their new products! I would not expect them to state that it was a custom order either. I don't place any expectations upon my customers beyond payment for their items and patience with the process.
That is a different issue than with vendors posting their custom creations and tagging the purchaser/customer.
