| I have someone I am talking to from GC, that got her glider neutered today.
Her vet did a pom off neuter with a staple to close the incision.
Is the staple dangerous being in that area? Should she have another vet check the area out?
Should she keep the glider away from his cagemates because of the staple? She says they are trying to groom the area.
The vet said the staple will stay in for two weeks and then be "surgically" removed. Is this okay? Should she find out more about this "Surgery"? he will be put under for this again.
Does the sm sound happen before, during or after the sming starts?
She was given pain meds. Ill get the info on the meds.

| If it were me I would not want a staple in my glider. It is a hazard if he or the others groom it out and they swallow it. Just not safe IMO. Plus he is never going to leave that alone.
I would remove him from the others until she finds out if she should have it rechecked.

| I know I am the same way. She currently has him on her body and is waiting till he goes to sleep to put him back with the others.
Should I advise her to keep him separate until we can find out further if this is dangerous or not?

| I would almost bet money they are going to pull that staple out. If they are like my gliders they will wake when she puts him in the pouch and then start to groom. If she can keep him separate I think that is best till you get a better answer.
If Val does not get on here in a while call her and she will advise you best.
Do you have her number??

| Try cell first then the other if she does not answer. It is 8 am there well you know lol you are in TX duh!
She is your best answer I think. Keep me posted please. I just do not like staples and in a glider that seems a bit much for them to handle and not SM.

| She should get to another vet, have the staple removed and have some glue put to close the incision.
Pain meds are OK. Staples are generally not OK for gliders. Ever.
Having talked with Valorie, I am aware that there are some issues with getting this glider to the vet as this person lives in an area where gliders are illegal. Nonetheless, an emergency surgery to close an SM site or even to clean up a self-removal of a staple will be both costly and traumatic for both mom and glider. Staples should not be used.
