pinky feeding tips

i've fed pinkys to stitch before and he didn't touch them, as far as i know my girls have never seen them, so i was wondering if anyone tips for feeding them, also for those that have feed them before do you cut up the pinky? or give it whole?

I don't feed them and never will. I don' t have the stomach for it and since it is not necessary, I've just made the decision that it is not something that will happen in my home. So, I'm no help to you. Sorry.

Sorry I have never fed them either. I think most just place them in the cage. A lot of people buy the frozen ones also.

I've never fed them, either. They are a very expensive source of protien, and I can't justify it against some of the other reasons I don't feed them. If you want to vary it up sometimes, try chicken wings. I just bake them, no seasoning or anything. Then cool them and give each baby a wing. I can guarantee total silence in my glider room on the nights I do this. Everyone grabs their wing, and heads to a different part of the cage to eat. They don't even chirp. It's weird.

Nope not me either. I can't guarantee what the parents were eating & from where. And are the pinkies mill breed? Something we don't approve of? I give my much more better stuff than mice. Sorry

There are people that do feed pinkies. It just is not the most common of practices. Hopefully one of those people will be along to help you out.

I feed pinkys on a regular basis. I know a lot of people don't like it, but mine seem to enjoy eating them.

When I first started, I tried live pinkys. Won't do that ever again. They SCREAM. Now, I feed frozen/thawed. Warm them up in some warm water. Mine won't touch them cold. And, when I first did f/t, I put them in one of those vibrating reptile feeding dishes. The movement seemed to attract them better than limp pinky's in the bottom of the cage.

One warning- they do rip them apart. Limb by limb. There is blood. There is a lot of cleaning. If you can't handle it, don't start it. I have also done goldfish and anoles. But, can't do anoles anymore because I found out you can't buy feeder anoles in Austin.

i'm just looking into new things to mix up dinners. i've done baked chicken, and eggs, even gave them a little salmon and trout once. i may have to try the pinkies one night before i clean the cage, i never thought about how much of a mess they would make with pinkies.
