The Pet Glider Exotic Diet Ingredients:

64 oz. applesauce
12 oz. yogurt
6 oz. concentrated orange juice
2 Tablespoons ground flax seed or wheat germ
1 to 1 1/2 cups oatmeal (Old Fashion/uncooked, not quick oats), keep the mixture
moist, the amount of juice from the fruits and veggie will determine how much oatmeal
you will want to use.  If in doubt add 1 cup oatmeal, if it seems like too much liquid
add just a little more oatmeal.

Divide the above ingredients into two bowls.  In bowl 1 put 8 oz. of boiled, deboned
chicken in one bowl.

In bowl 2 put 4 large scrambled eggs (8oz.).

Divide each of those bowls in half.  Now you have 4 bowls, two with chicken and two
with eggs.
Rotational nutrition (nutritional variety) is important for healthy, happy sugar
gliders, be creative!

Mix (4) 1 cup mixtures of 1/2 cup veggie and 1/2 cup fruit.  Each of these (4) cups
will have a different combination of different fruits and veggies.  Some fruits and
veggie can be repeated but no one cup will have exactly the same ingredients.  Add one
cup to each of your four bowls and stir in well.  You will end up with two bowls
containing chicken and two bowls containing cooked eggs but all bowls will have
different fruits and veggies.

Sprinkle The Pet Glider multi vitamin multi mineral with calcium on top of the food
you sever your gliders each evening.  Do not mix the vitamins in just sprinkle on top.
You will use 1/8th teaspoon of vitamins per sugar glider.

Make sure to alternate each night between batches, for variety.

Feed mealies as bonding treats, and as protein supplements to pregnant or lactating mothers. We reccomend 10-15 medium size mealworms, or 7-8 large mealworms everyday.

Don't feed beef, seeds/nuts, or cottage cheese to your gliders. These are high in phosphorus. Avoid feeding anything with preservatives, sugar, or color additives. Keep the diet low-fat.

Daily exercise is vital. Exercise helps bones absorb calcium and stimulates bone thickening.

Always try to aim for a high Calcium to Phosphorus ratios.

Daily Staple:

Monkey Biscuit

Sugar Glider Cereal

Daily Vitamin/Mineral Supplement

"The Pet Glider Complete" Multivitamin, sprinkled on food.

Davie - I think it is important to state

1 - the vitamins can only be purchase at www.thepetglider.com

2 - originally she used Ca++ enriched OJ conc, if you can find this, it gives a tiny bit more leeway on the Ca/Phos ratios, I believe she changed it because a lot of people were having a hard time finding this

3 - this makes a LOT of food....if people only have one pair of gliders they should consider cutting the recipe in half

4 - my gliders won't touch the chicken so we are a strictly egg based PP diet here so people should experiment with that as well as the veggie fruit combos

If you are going to use Priscilla Price's Pet glider diet plan, you need to follow it as written.

And please be sure to get the vitamins as they contain the rest of what they need to complete the diet.

Got ya, Rocky likes rice so wasnt sure if that could be used too.

Thanks so much for the information.
Will be ordering the vitamins also.

This is just for the staple right?
I mean i can still give him fresh fruits / vegies in seperate bowls as well?

This IS the staple and it does include the fruits/veggies in it. I spoke to Priscilla when I questioned this too. (adding extra) You don't need to because you're already including the fruits and veggies which is why you want to provide a few varieties into the 4 mixtures. Gives them different nutrients each night. You could probably add a few here and there but if you give them too much extra, some of the protein value is taken away from the main staple. You don't want that.

To be honest, when first making this staple, it seems like a lot of work, and it kind of is but after you are finished, you have a lot of it and don't have to do it again for a while if you only have a couple of gliders. It's easy in the long run. When the staple is made, scoop into ice cube trays and freeze. Then once frozen, you can put each of the four staples (because you gave them variety of f/v in each) and throw the frozen cubes into 4 seperate freezer bags. There ya go. Pull out some cubes each night, mix in the measured vitamin amount into it and you're done.

Give yourself a few hours to make this staple but really, once frozen and in use...you don't have to do it again for a month or two.

And the rice, if you give too much, well it's all carbs. I may give my gliders a little whole wheat pasta once per month as a treat but other than that, I don't give them those kinds of starches, not as a daily allowance. Kind of empty calories and not enough nutrition. Plus, they fill up on that and don't eat enough of the good stuff.

Ohh, thats why, got ya. makes sense.

It looked complicated to make at first glance, but i do alot of baking for my family and have a rescued min. long haired chihuahua , the first almost 2 years i have to cook his food daily as he refused any type of dog foods. And i tried everything lol.

Hes now on a good diet but took a long time to get him there, so looking at this past a glance really doesnt look hard or very time consuming.

I just wasnt sure if what i put in the mix as fruits andveggies was actually all i needed to put in. Rocky is used to having a mix of atleast 4 dishes so cutting down so much i just want to make sure i wasnt misreading anything and missing something i am supposed to do.

Rocky is doing a massive turnaround since finding this site and speaking to val and jen about diet i want to make sure i dont do something to mess it up.

Thanks so much for the info.

Oh also, the people I got Rocky from, they told me to give him "Sugar glider nectar"
Its from Brisky Pet Products. You mix a lil in a water bottle a few times a week, Rocky never seemed to like it, is that even a good product, or maybe i should be using it as a sprinkle versus in a bottle as rocky prefers to drink from a bowl instead?

~ Theresa

P.S sorry for all the questions, i was just taught wrong and triing hard to correct things.

As far as the amount of food, remember that they have tiny tummies. So at first I say overfeed the PP mixture. See what's left on a daily basis, then go down from there. No matter what good diet you feed, I still think it's better to overfeed vs underfeed but I make sure that I'm not wasting TOO much. lol

My gliders never really liked nectar. So I stopped giving it. It's not necessary by any means, to give it. I stick with mealies as a treat source.

So glad your little one is improving. You're a good momma to him!

Ok, I made a batch of this diet and Rocky is LOVING it lol.
I thaw out a chunk and he virtually jumped in the bowl when i was putting it in his home last night lol, was hilarious. Barely had time to set it down and he was all in it lol.

Now i just need to get the vitamin sprinkles for it and i think hes set on his new diet.

Thanks so much.

Hi, I think i messed up, the first batch i made rocky flipped out for, couldnt wait to be fed each night. That batch ran out, i keep a list of what goes in each so i can adfjust so he gets more of what he likes. This time, i changed all the vegies and fruits, and i bought walmart brand frozen orange juice, my feeezer was full so i could only freeze one batch at a time, rocky wasnt eating it, he snubbed it, smelled it and tasted it, and it doesnt smell or taste good, it has a fermented smell but how can it ferment in my fridge in 2 days, idk if the eggs, ( i did boiled this time as he loves boiled versus scrambled) and the generic oj did it or the change of veggies this time. I am at a loss, I am going shopping in the morning for the ones i used in the first batch and am hoping he goes back to loving it. Any advice or criticism of doing something wrong?

My gliders prefer the basic mix by itself. I give fresh fruits and veggies each night instead of mixing them in. This way I know what they like or don't like. Does this sound like a good idea?

I'm a new owner--does this diet need to be food-processed--or just finely chopped?

My babies absolutely love this diet.  I have had Felix on it for about a year and I change the fruits and veggies up so much that he never gets tired of it!

I rescued Roxy about 6 months ago, and the first time she tried it, I think that was the first time she had anything like it... I was told her previous owner fed her dry cat food (poor baby) she was so skinny when I got her.  She is already grabbing a bib and spoon when she hears me coming.  She is always ready to eat now.

And a friend came over to visit and brought her Lemur over at dinner time, and he loved it too... I had to get him a bowl too!

Heck, even my husband grabs a spoon when I make a batch.  I thinks he considers himself the QC department.  It gets his stamp of approval every time!

LOVE IT!!!
