My neutered boy, Gizmo is almost 2 years old. I got him from Pocket Pets when they said he was about 8 weeks old, and (standard with that company) he was already neutered. Below is a photo I took a few minutes ago (and moments after I noticed this) He has some sort of tear between his hole where he uses the bathroom and where his "pom" would be. Anyone seen this? He has 3 other cage mates (another neutered male and 2 females) I don't know what to make of this

Looks like an abscess burst. And looks very healthy underneath. I wouldn't worry too much over it. Get him some antibiotics and use Quickderm or Vetericyn and it will clear up fast. No problem.

Tears have ragged edges. Burst abscesses have smoothe edges. That is one way to tell. It happens quite frequently that gliders have abscesses burst on their belly, chest, legs, etc. that were not noticed prior.

On hand, I have some Clavamox and Clindamycin. What's Quickderm and Vetericyn? Is that something like Neosporin?

They are only like neosporin in that they are ointments. Either comes in a spray also. They both really speed up wound healing.

Here is more info on Quickderm: https://thesweetspot.forumotion.net/t405-quickderm-advanced-wound-care-ointment
You can get quickderm from TGI.

We don't yet have a thread like that about Vetericyn.

I second the Quickderm, it's pretty fantastic stuff. I've had good results with it. Good luck.

Would a pet store have quickderm? Or tractor supply? Or... Some place like that?

No you need to order it from TGI.

They might have Vetericyn.

This stuff works on people, too. It is amazing. I've used it on my gliders, cats, dogs and myself.

I heard that Tractor Supply has Vetericyn. I'll look tomorrow. Do I need to put him in an e-collar so he doesn't groom it off? Or does it have a bad taste or anything to prevent that?

Thanks so much for all the input! I've contacted my vet about this issue, and she seems quite impressed with the way I handle these things with my gliders. I put Gizmo in an e-collar the other night and by morning, it had dried blood scabbing over- so, she was intrigued about me making one and using it and how I did it! Actually, I think I have been giving her some good ideas lol Wouldn't be where I am without the glider community! Gizmo has a tear... 890490

No, you don't need an e-collar. He will likely groom it, but Vetericyn (and Quickderm, if you choose to use it), are safe.
