Within this community, there is this underlying attitude of "go to the vet." Of course, those of us in health care and who regularly rehabilitate animals appreciate this.
However, there are some things that require vet care that don't necessarily require EMERGENCY vet care.
So, I thought I would start a list.
The following always mean GO NOW. These are significant and serious issues that always mean get in the car and go to the vet no matter what time it happens to be. (i.e. these are not get on the internet and ask what others think it could be events. They are GO events)
Lethargy lasting more than a minute
Unresponsiveness
Labored breathing
Bleeding - unable to stop or copious amounts
Repeated vomiting
Glider is unable to eliminate (pee or poop)
Repeated seizures - three or more within two minutes of each other.
