| I have a girl that ripped her nail off to the nail bed. We rinsed it in saline solution. I want to put some neosporin on it too but I'm not sure which to use. I've heard to use it with pain management and without. Which would you prefer? Also, any other comments for helping me get her through this would be really awesome.
Thank you! |

| I was also wondering if 'Triple Antibiotic Ointment' or 'Bacitracin Zinc Ointment' would be useable for this type of wound? |

| If the pain management is a numbing agent, I wouldn't use that in case she licks it. Hope she heals up fast, Allie! |

| If it is not bleeding, and you cleaned it, you don't really need to put anything on it. She will keep it clean herself. Keep an eye on it, but as long as it looks to be healing, she doesn't need anything on it. -----------♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥----------- ~*~ Val ~*~ Passionate = one step down from crazyWe can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures - Thornton Wilder

| Aww thanks Brenda! I'm so worried about her. It was bleeding pretty heavily. We rinsed it with saline solution and the nail fell off sometime ago. She licked it and cleaned it and now it seems to have scabbed over. Should I still neosporin it?
Also, for future reference will either of the ointments I listed be alright for use on a sugar glider? Or is neosporin the only one that's ok to use? |

As I said above - you should not put anything on it.
Any triple antibiotic is fine to use on gliders. But, remember that these things are NOT necessary most of the time. A wound (no matter how small) will not heal as quickly if covered with an ointment. Wounds have to be clean and dry to heal. Don't cover it with anything unless you HAVE TO. In the case of nails, you do not need to put anything on it.-----------♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥----------- ~*~ Val ~*~ Passionate = one step down from crazyWe can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures - Thornton Wilder

| Also, as an FYI - Zinc will burn. In the tattoo world, I always tell customers to avoid any lotions or ointments with Zinc in them. I swear, it feels like battery acid. |
