| When feeding any animal, we often tell people to avoid seeds. I feel that this, like many things, has been taken to an extreme by many glider owners.
I now see people regularly avoiding ANY seeds, even edible ones. Edible seeds of many kinds are perfectly SAFE for glider consumption. I give my gliders sunflower seeds as treats. I do not remove the seeds from watermelon (the gliders just avoid them) and I don't remove the edible seeds from cucumbers and other fruits/veggies that have EDIBLE seeds.
No, we should not feed apple seeds or peach pits or the like to our gliders. But, we don't have to be fanatical about seeds in general. Edible means edible.
Using just a bit of common sense in feeding our gliders makes it not only less stressful, but also makes it quite easy to feed fresh foods daily (for those that desire this sort of thing).

| I can't think of any seeds I remove at all, besides apples and papaya. | |

| I cut around the seeds in apples, cantaloupe, avocado, peaches, plums and the like, but that's it. For the heck of it, though, is there a list of seeds that we should absolutely avoid? | |

| Papaya seeds are actually okay to feed. I don't, only because they just get tossed around the room LOL. Other than the obvious ones, I don't do a thing with any seeds - they will either eat them or eat around them. | |

| Have you ever tried a Papaya seed? Ewww they do not taste very good at all!
I remove Apple, peach, Cantaloupe and Honey Dew melon seeds only because it is easier to remove them then clean them up. Other then that I can not think of any otherI remove.

| Yeah, they're sort of peppery - not my thing! I know a couple of people have said their gliders have eaten them. Sounds yucky to me! | |

| This topic should probably be qualified as a discussion of fruit and vegetable seeds.
I think seeds, as in dry type usually fed to birds are not a beneficial addition to a glider's diet.
In a similar train of thought, I probably would not offer alfalfa, mung beans or broccoli seeds to my gliders - but once sprouted, my gliders love them.

| I let my gliders eat around the seeds - they like playing with the watermelon seeds. I cut out the apple core/seeds unless I am giving them a whole apple to play with. In that case they have lots to play with and eat before they ever get to the apple seeds. They LOVE sunflower seeds - that is a regular treat in out house. No one removes the seeds in nature - they just eat the tasty stuff around them :o) | |
