I was clipping nails just a few minutes ago and I think I was a little late in doing so. Tika is missing the nail on the fourth finger of her left hand. There is an appearance of a very light scab (scab's not really the right word as it doesn't appear that it could come off - more like extra blood flow to heal that area? It's slightly darker than her flesh but doesn't look bad. Very hard to explain and even harder to get a good picture of) at the tip and I believe the nail may be growing back already. I feel like such a bad mom for not noticing this sooner. It looks very healthy and like it is coming back. I see no signs of infection and she didn't mind me holding the hand to clip nails or to look at it closer, so I don't believe it is hurting her at the moment. Is there anything I should do for this besides just keep an eye on it and make sure it is healed and growing back?

You are doing everything right. Your babies are lucky to have you.

Brenda, I'm curious if the nail ever did grow back.

Not too long ago, I met a woman who had a glider with a missing nail. I've been periodically going to visit the woman, clip her gliders nails, and check out the baby with the missing nail, and it really looks like it may be starting to grow back.

Tika's nail did grow back and now it looks just the same as the others. It took a few months to come back fully, but it's there and has been for several months. You'd never know there had been a problem looking at it now. I'm sure that little one will have the same outcome. :)
