| In the coming months, we will be compiling and posting an FAQ for each of our medical sections. The dream/goal is to create a thread that someone can come and read when they are experiencing an issue with a glider to get some answers to questions that they have and be comforted by knowing they are not the only ones with those questions.
We are going to do this a few sections at a time. We are asking that you all post your questions here. Then, we will compile some answers, remove this post, and replace it with an FAQ sticky.
So, lay your questions about AMPUTATION on us! We want to hear them. No question is a stupid question. Remember, if you wonder it, chances are someone else does too.

| Can a sugar glider still be active if they are missing a limb?
What adjustments should be made in the cage to accommodate them?
I read that if a tail has dead tissue, it will eventually fall off on its own. Is this true?

| While on the way/waiting for the vet, what should you do if there is exposed bone prodruding from a tail or other injury/amputation?
How much can the glider feel with a bone exposed? What risks (SM, bone infection exc) are there with this type of injury and what precautions can I take to prevent them?

| When amputating a limb can you just amputate just the injured part or should you take the entire limb up to the shoulder or hip?
If leaving a partial limb do they drag it and cause sores and how do you treat the continued sores if this happens?
