| Natural disasters have proven to be a life-altering event. If you're better prepared ahead of time, your sugar gliders can certainly have at least some basic needs covered. Keep all items stored ahead of time so you can "grab and go" if need be. Some items include:
Pet Carrier or Travel Cage Non-perishable baby food in sealed, unopened jars (be sure not to get food that contains ingredients they should not have. Try to stick with plain fruits, veggies and proteins like chicken or beef)
Extra water bottle Extra food dishes Water or water bottles an unopened gallon or a few bottles Handwarmers in case it gets cold Clean, fleece blankets Information for your vet and a backup emergency vet
Money or Care Credit card for emergency purchases/vet visits Hand Sanitizer Emergency medical kit
Please feel free to add to the list!

| Also, get familiar with the glider owners in your area in case someone nearby is in a safer position and is able to care for your gliders while your family re-groups. | |

| A few familiar toys, even one or two, will help entertain your guys and lessen stress in an emergency.
Something to clean dishes with. Also, know ahead of time how you will fit everything into your vehicle. I recently downsized into a sedan from a suburban. If I have to grab and go, it is now a much different story than it was. Gliders can travel in a bonding pouch. I have pop up carriers for where ever we end up. I also have to be aware that a dog and 4 cats will travel with us, so the gliders would have to go in the front, where the others can't get to them. Crazy stuff, but you won't have time to consider this IN the emergency, so plan it out first.

| Try mixing in your "emergency diet" once in awhile in their rotation to make sure it is something they will eat. Since my diet requires everything to be fresh or frozen for long periods of time, I keep a bag of Grandma Lucy's dehydrated raw on hand and we use it a few times a month. That's the only reason I found out that Ziva won't touch the stuff, so I had to get her some Addiction Brushtail Possum. If I didn't mix in every once in awhile, I wouldn't have ever known that she would starve herself on my other dehydrated raw of choice! | |

| some of those plastic easter eggs or little treasure chests, something small that wouldn't take up much space in your kit, so that they can atleast forage a little bit. | |

| How embarrassing. I'm the one that wrote this and still didn't have my act together when we were forced to evacuate from the fires. Don't think it can't or won't happen to you! Prepare now. | |
