PostSubject: 3rd Eye lids are up   Sat Apr 05, 2014 8:52 am

Mr. Magoo has had his 3rd eyelids up for the 4th day in a row now. I took him into the vets yesterday and everything so far checks out normal except the eye lids being up. No swelling, teeth and gums look fine, ears fine, weight fine, eating and drinking OK. The only thing we see are his eye lids up. Vet said to keep an eye on him as something could be festering and not showing up yet.
Nothing in his world has changed except upon writing this I am thinking I did wash his bedding on Tuesday used regular detergent and I usually use Dawn dish soap on his things??
I will go wash a pouch on Dawn and replace the one he is in now just in case.

Anyone have any idea's?

No x-rays yet just a complete physical. Magoo has not done well with Anesthesia in the past so not doing that unless we need to.

I see no one answered you here Brenda but I came looking here now. My Chloe's eye lid is up and down. It looked really bad and then I got her out of the cage and it looks normal. I thought I imagined it. Then I looked in there again and it's up a little again. Did you ever find out what was wrong? I wonder if she might have scratched herself.m

My vet had me use this on one of my dogs when he hurt his eye.

It says safe for all animals. I used a little on her for tonight.

This seems to be very popular in gliders right now. I have had several calls about it and I have one glider here experiencing the same thing. My glider got a shot of Convenia and some Tobramyacin (sp?) drops for his eye. Dr. Walsh felt that it is a sign of a mild infection within or near the third eyelid OR damage to the muscles that control the movement of the third eyelid. ???? Since there are no other symptoms, it is really difficult to diagnose a case. Hope all of our babies get better.

Me too. I'm looking for a new vet now. Mine is now forty minutes away but she may be it.

Davie I ended up taking Magoo in a second time as he developed an abscess in his lower jaw. We did 2 antibiotics few a few weeks. It has been a couple of months now and all is well.

Val if we are seeing a rise in this could it be the time of year with all the pollen? Maybe a allergy type of reaction??

Awe Mr. MAGOO! Well I'm glad he's alright.
Oddly enough, the rest of the night and today, she is fine. Maybe I did imagine it? I don't get it.

I wonder if it is an allergy type of thing. Glad Mr. Magoo is well and hope all others are, too!
