Wasn't to sure which area to ask this in so sorry if this isn't where. I want to try my hand and making my girls some items for their cage (do NOT want to sell) and I have watch the DIY videos and such but it really just shows how to make things but not what settings to use on your machine. Is there a place on here or a site anyone knows of the can give better info so that I am making safe items for my girls???

Read your machine's manual. For the most part, you will be sewing cotton or fleece. Use good needles and set your tension appropriately for fleece (or cotton). All machines are different (for example, on one of mine the tension is set at 2.5 and on another it is 4) Stitch size should always be small - depending on the machine. Usually around a 1, but again, all machines are different. Always straight stitches, no decorative stitching.
Know the basic rules for sewing for gliders and know your machine and you should be good to go.

And, if you are still unsure, make up a few pieces and send them out to a seasoned member for review. I'd be happy to look them over for you if you like.

Thanks, I will take you up on it when I think I have it figured out but before I put it in the girls cage!
