I would like to start a list of safe items we can feed our gliders to give them a special dinner too. Please copy/paste and add your safe items to the list.

Remember when feeding your gliders these foods they should not have butter/salt/pepper or spices added to to them.

I will start with a few items and everyone can build from there.

Turkey
Cranberry sauce
Sweet Potato's

Turkey
Cranberry sauce
Sweet Potatoes
Green Beans
Mashed Potatoes
Tossed Salad
Fruit Salad
Pumpkin

You can pretty much give them a little bit of everything. Even a little tiny bit of stuffing or pie crust will not hurt once a year.

How about a picture? This is what each glider got tonight:

Thanksgiving Dinner for your Glider Dsc06812

Some fruits & veggies and...
Turkey
Mashed Potatoes
Stuffing/Dressing
Lefse (hiding under some turkey)
Red Apple Sauce Salad

They got a little bit of everything I like & brought home for me except for the rolls because I thought they already had enough carbs in there. If I had been thinking, I would have brought home a little bit of what I don't like for them: cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, and sweet potatoes. Oh well, they seem to be quite happy with what they got at the moment.

I give my gliders the turkey necks. I boil them in plain water and pull off some meat to use in my gravy and stuffing. The gliders get the rest - and I will have spotlessly clean bones all over the cage in the morning.

We had extra people show up for dinner and had a cajun infused turkey (that was quite tasty and spicy), so my babies did not have any turkey. Thanksgiving Dinner for your Glider 913269
But, they did get
Cranberry salad
fresh fruit (watermelon and pineapple were left over)
sweet potato
green beans
corn
garden salad

For Thanksgiving my babies had...
-Shredded turkey breast with a little bit of stuffing for a treat.
-A couple of pieces of artichoke (they've never had it, and we never make it so thought I'd give it a shot - turns out they LOVED it, but I wouldn't recommend giving them artichoke regularly, we stuff ours so it is a very rare treat)
-Mashed sweet potatoes
-Green beans
-Pumpkin

I wish I would have tried cranberry sauce with them! I ate the last bit of it last night, that's another thing I haven't tried! Hmnnn... there will always be next Thanksgiving!!!

Mine had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce. I still have leftovers and was thinking of giving them a little turkey and cranberry sauce again tonight...lol.

Since I do Thanksgiving and Christmas at Mom's, we don't have leftovers for the babies. But I do love me some turkey, and the turkey sandwiches you get to make after, so...about the 2nd week of December, I make holiday dinner, and the babies get all kinds of yumminess! I'll post it when I do it.

I bought special stuff just for the gliders this year. Wheat grass (still growing), turkey necks to boil for soup, extra pumpkin for glider pie. They will also get some mashed potatoes and some of the green beans from dinner (beans, a little bacon and some pepper, yum!), I'll rinse them first. This is in addition to their regular foods. There should be enough for 2 or 3 days of rotating yumminess.

Glider pie....what is in it? I'll be keeping out parts of different things I'm cooking just for the gliders, and am very intrigued by pie.....

Hahaha! I'm just going to mix the pumpkin with a little honey and add some cinnamon. They love it, and it's much better than the over-sugared version we eat!
The turkey necks were like $4 for a big pack of them, and I will use them to make glider soup, just boil and add their veggies at the end. I make enough to freeze some for another night. Holidays create lots of glider food, here!

So you give them the entire neck? Do they fight over it, or share since it's too big to run off with? And they can have cinnamon? I am better than I used to be, but can tell I am still overly cautious about some foods! I love it when I find out I can loosen up on something!

One time, I brought home turkey necks for them from a big turkey dinner (don't remember if it was Thanksgiving or what) and I had 2 necks to split between 12 or 13 gliders and I broke the necks into pieces and gave each cage enough pieces for each glider & the next day those turkey bones were picked clean and white & awesome! Wanted to make a necklace or something out of them...lol.
