Does anyone know why this bald spot is black and not the normal skin color??

It looks to be a simple change in skin pigmentation - possibly scar tissue. Have you had a skin scraping to be sure? If so, I don't think I'd worry too much. Try some QuickDerm on it and you might get that fur to grow back. Black Bald Spot 288672

Nope, I wasn't TOO concerned about it because it isn't raised or anything. I've been trying Vetericyn, and it seems to be getting a TAD smaller, but it's still pretty big and it's taking FOREVER…lol :)

Could it be from an old wound? I agree with Val just darker skin.
