QUESTION

Has anyone had gliders who were on medication and it changed their appetite and they no longer like the foods they did before the medication? Or it took a long time for them to start eating some foods again after they stopped the meds?

I have not had a glider's taste in foods change after a medication. However, I have seen many, many times where antibiotics change a glider's appetite. In particular, Baytril is very notorious for this. This is one of the reasons that causes Baytril to have so many side effects and to be less effective with gliders. Many people report that their gliders have no appetite at all when using Baytril. I have also had changes in appetite reported with use of anti-parasitic medications.

The only meds we've ever had to give were after neuters and noticed no changes.

I know what you are talking about Brenda. I have had gliders after meds stop liking what I thought was a favorite food. No matter how long I waited to try and give it to them again they still would not eat it. Wonder if the taste them changes while on meds and they are afraid to try it after the meds thinking the taste is still going to be nasty.

Karen that is exactly what I am talking about. This past March Mr. Magoo got sick. He was on Trimethoprime for roughly 21 days. He would not eat his staple of Priscilla's diet and really would only eat a few foods. He normally hates eggs but while sick he only wanted eggs. He would devour meal worms before getting sick but would not touch one until about a month and a half ago.
He is now back to eating decent. It has taken him 7 months.

I agree with Val also, gliders do go off feed while on Baytril.
