So, lets talk about the hanging tabs on pouches for a moment.

As owners, do you find that your gliders have a preference for where the tab is sewn into the pouch? For example, do they prefer it sewn at the side seam or at the back wall? Or no preference at all?

For vendors, is the placement of these tabs something that you gave careful consideration to, or no?

My babies don't care one way or the other. For me, I like them on the "sides" of the pouch, meaning there is no front or back to the pouch, the tabs are equidistant apart.

I like them either on the side right at the seams or just behind the seams on the back. When they are placed on the back it let's the front fall open too much.

My gliders and I really don't care where the tabs are.

I place them on the 'back' side just to the inside of the side seams. I would be just as happy placing them on the ends but my SEWING MACHINE says it is not acceptable. The combination of the side seams and the material for the tabs either causes my machine to skip stitches across that area, or to break the needle.

Well, my girls first pouches were homemade with my sister's help and we left 2 open fringes on each side, (back side at 2 corners, and front side at 2 corners). Then I tied these fringes on each side to little rings. So, that would put them on the sides, worked fine.

The new pouches I ordered has the tabs in back, right near side seams. I just hung one Saturday and my girls don't seem to care about the different placement of tabs.

The tabs on the back may allow pouch to lay more open then when on the sides, but my girls are curled at the bottom, and don't even seem to notice. Plus with their blankie in there, they can bury under it if they so choose.

I like it either way also.

I have found over the years that most of the gliders in my house do not like pouches with the tabs on the back side. It does cause the front to hang open more, and their natural instinct is to not be exposed when sleeping/vulnerable. So, I always put my tabs right on the seams. This keeps that front side from gaping, and makes the pouch look nicer hanging in the cage too.

As an owner who has a lot of pouches to change each day, I really prefer that the tabs be right at the seams so that there is no front or back to the pouch. It only saves a few seconds in hanging, but when hanging 20+ pouches, those seconds add up. It is one little frustration I can save myself. I don't ever criticize a vendor who makes pouches with the tabs at the back, but I won't buy pouches from them either.

I, too, prefer them on the seams and as a vendor, that's how I make them. I don't like how it looks when a pouch hangs open (with tabs in the back). I have a little girl here right now that's in transit from a RR and her old mommy sent along a pouch with tabs on the back that she was sleeping in. Just so she had more, I gave her a pouch of mine with tabs on the seams. She chooses to sleep in mine. I don't know if it's because it's new and she could mark it up or if she just prefers it.

Here too. And it makes it easier to hang the pouches caddy corner, which I like to do so that my gliders don't sleep against the bars of the cage.
