As a general rule, canned items are not safe to be fed regularly. However, if packaged in those little plastic containers rather than a can, then possibly. I have fed my gliders these type of mandarin oranges in the past. I wouldn't make it a regular practice, but that is just my opinion.

Thanks so much. I am trying to make sure Rocky's diet is fixed and thought he might like those, but I was concerned about the metal from the cans. Better safe to ask than be sorry later. He's doing much better the past day, since Sugar's passing, and I want to make sure he stays that way so giving him alot of extra loving and working hard on his diet needs. Your site has helped tremendously, Thanks for everything.... Theresa

Hi, For the "Pomegranate", do i squish the juice off the seeds and add the juice to the staple mix so Rocky isnt eating the seeds themselves?

I just give them a whole chunk of pomegranate and let them do their thing. Here is a photo of one plate with some pomegranate on it:

AWESOME. I am a lot better with photos lol. Gives me a much better idea of what meals should look like.

Thanks so much, it's one of my favorite fruits so when I saw it on the list and they're in season now, I was like Oh Ya! lol.

Thanks again, Can't wait to see Rocky dig in lol.

I hope I am posting this question in the right place---

I see that canned fruits and veggies aren't recommended to be used regularly. So, should I assume that fresh fruits and veggies will be preferred over anything frozen? If I've missed this info somewhere I apologize.

Yes, fresh is preferred.
Having said that, many people feed frozen fruits and veggies and have done so safely for many years.

I always notice in the posts that most of you use plates. Whenever I tried that, the girls would walk around in their food and I was afraid they might pee in it. Since they pee on everything else (especially my laptop keyboard when I bring it in their room and try to work :/ ). I use a few of those stout little gerbil cups myself. They will perch on the edge and eat, but not walk inside them.
