While playing with the gliders last night, I noticed my boy Cupid had a lump on his chest. I hadn't noiced it earlier. He has always been a chunky boy with his "man boobs" but this is different. It is an obvious lump, smaller than a gumb ball.

He is eatng and drinking fine, playing/acting normal, and does notseem to be bothered by it at all. He is showing no signs of pain or stress and even let me touch it, so it does nto seem to be hurting him in any way.

I called the vet and sheduled an appointment but they had no openings until July 16th. Since it does not hurt him, I chose to wait so I can save the money for any surgery/testing he may need. (They would charge me an extra $50 to squeeze him in sooner.)

Background info:
Cupid is a sterile mosaic. He was oop sometime in 2005. He came from Jolly Gliders in CT. I got him when he was a few years old... he wasn't thrilled about being handled but he tolerated me and has warmed up to me now (although he still doesn't enjoy being handled). I have fed BML to all my gliders until last month, I switched to HPW complete. He has never been ill with me. No issues with my other 8 gliders.

I am sorry for the blurry pic but Cupid was happy about me exposing his chest/belly to the world. I am curious for opinions and things I should ask my vet, etc etc...

Thanks! :)

It looks like it's fluid filled and loosely attached. We had to remove one off one of my boys last year. He did very well. Pathology showed that it was not cancerous and seemed to have formed around an area of infection. The only way to tell would be to biopsy. Yokio's (my boy) was more firmly attached than how this appears. My vet was able to take an xray without having to give anesthesia and it showed no solid mass. We decided to remove it when he had another wound that needed surgery. Our biggest challenge was during the healing phase. We couldn't place an ecollar due to the location of the other wound. We tried a jacket, but it held in moisture and caused a secondary infection. He had to undergo a few surgeries, but once we started using the quickderm, everything started to improve.

Thanks... good to know that it might be nothing. I will update after the vet appointment to let you know what it turns out to be.

Our appointment isn't until the 16th so I can ask him to take a culture and let you know.

Cupid's bump is just a "fatty mass" Since it isn't bothering him or hurting him in any way, we have decide to leave it alone for now. It is not connected to any organs etc either.
