PostSubject: Re: Spencer's Story   Spencer's Story - Page 2 Icon_minitimeFri Mar 19, 2010 8:59 pm

So Spencer doing some better on the Antibiotics, meaning he is not having "night terrors"(trying to get to himself at night ) in the past week and a half. However when I take the collar off he might be ok for any where from 5 min to several hours but will eventually try to get his cloaca. The bedroom hubby and I share is just not consistently warm enough so since he has been doing better I moved him to the living room last night and he ate every drop on his plate! I think he enjoys being around other gliders and being consistently warm. I just cant let him go back in the glider room where my breeding pairs are in case he starts the night thing again. I am looking for a baby monitor at garage sales and online so I can hear him if he starts again after the antibiotics are finished.

I bought my baby monitor at Marshall's. Discount places like that have them often in the baby section. Also Target, Ross, ToysRUs have them.

So I weighed Spencer tonight..............140 grams...........YAY, knew he was getting fluffy again!!! He is on the SMZ TMP again, but it helps a lot. I have been able to leave the collar off much of the time except when I sleep or he is not on me. So we are doing better right now. Thank you to all who still pray and or follow Spencers journey.

Way To Go Spencer.

Cora I'm happy to hear the good update. I'd love to see a picture of him at 140 grams. Could you please post some when you have time. You both are still in my prayers.

Hope this is not pic overload.....LOL Spencer is a white faced cinnamon so its hard to get good pics of his cloacal problem but I got one or 2. He does wet himself but I think that is more of marking rather than another symptom so thats why he is wet on his bottom, he does it when he wakes up, course he drenches me too :)

i'm sure you get asked alot, and i may have read this question somewhere else her, but does his size affect (or is it effect?) his jumping?

140 grams doesn't effect or affect (lol) his jumping, I think his collar would do that more than anything...You should see Sugar (she use to be with Spencer and is one of Cora's gliders) she is much bigger.

I have 4 gliders over 140 and they jump just as fast and hard as the smaller ones.

A few of my gliders are a bit more obese than Spencer & they do have some problems jumping. At least, they don't seem to like to go far, which may have actually contributed to their size in the first place, so I'm not sure.

Spencer can glide and do most anything else any other glider can do with his collar, just not as gracefully!!!!

Spencer went to Mary H's vet today too. The vet took Spencer off Robaxin and put him on SMZ TMP for two months.

Spencer had a follow up appt in Houston today with Dr. Fronefeld. I am to keep him on the SMZ TMP (antibiotic) indefinitely. He said it could be a scar tissue issue but would be more harm than good to get up in there and remove it. I agreed! He is up to 157 grams so he thrives on the antibiotic, still goes after himself at times, cant be trusted alone without an ecollar but he appears happy!!! I was considering putting him with Nice but he went into attack mode so he shall remain a lone glider. :(

Spencer is still having issues with wanting to tear up the inside (not outside) of his cloaca. He is very talented to be able to do that and has it bleeding in seconds. So collar off time is only a little while with me eyes on him constantly, cause he will sneak a little nip here and there. Could this be some sort of itch rather than pain???? If so how do we fix it? The following pics were taken last night.
Spencer turns his collar this way when he wants it off
https://2img.net/h/i5.photobucket.com/albums/y164/angelfish_37/IMG_5296.jpg
https://2img.net/h/i5.photobucket.com/albums/y164/angelfish_37/IMG_5297.jpg

Spencers Cloaca, please note the dark colored are is scare tissue, his skin tone is pink and thin in appearance because he is WFC so scars look like that on him, even his neuter scar (pom off). The slit is what he urinates and defecates from. Course I think that is different than all other gliders because of the surgeries and mutilations.

https://2img.net/h/i5.photobucket.com/albums/y164/angelfish_37/IMG_5305.jpg

I would give anything to be able to fix my boy!
