can someone visit this link and tell me if Cocoa is having some issues, or if it's normal or something? I'm still learning all the sounds they make, why they make them, when they make them, etc. So, Cocoa was sneezing some last night, and today I heard her sneezing in her pouch, pulled her out and got a short video of it. She isn't grooming, just sneezing, sneezing... and then she wipes her nose. I'd really appreciate some input on what or why...

p.s. sorry the video is upside down, apparently I don't know the difference between upside down and right side up on my iphone.

thanks!

There is a link on GC of all the sounds gliders make. I think that it is commendable that you are doing your best to learn. Please never stop.
I think it would be best if you utilized the call list and find someone to mentor you by phone. OR, I'd be happy to hook you up with one of our amazing mentors here. You seem to have a lot of concerns about your gliders health, and those concerns are always best handled 1:1.

If you are interested in being paired with a mentor here, just shoot me a PM and I will make that happen for you.

I just want to know if my babies are making normal noises. I've gone to other forums and all people say is "if you want piece of mind, go to the vet". Well, I'm already in debt to the vet and the only one in my state that has experience with sugar gliders is a 4 hour round trip drive, then there is the cost of the appointment! We are a single income household- hubby works, I'm in school and we have a 3 year old... if I don't 'have' to go to the vet, that would be great! It's why I come asking for help cause we just don't have the finances to go to the vet every time a glider makes a noise and I'm paranoid.

haha, sorry, guess I had to let off a lil steam If anyone is willing to help me figure things out, I'm more than grateful

You are more than welcome to let of steam here. I will caution you, though, about making your vents about the length of the drive to the vet or the cost of vet care, etc. On this particular board, people are driving much, much farther than 4 hours round trip (like 12 hours) and are paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars each month for vet care. We all understand the current economy and the strain it puts on each of us. We also understand that pets are a luxury and not a necessity. once you make the choice to bring them into your home, you owe it to them to provide the very best for them - even if it means you have to drive a long ways to visit an expensive vet.

That is not to say you need to run to the vet at every turn. But, it is to say that you need to invest a LOT of time into learning what is normal for gliders and what is normal for YOUR gliders so that you do not have so many paranoid moments. We only know what you type on the screen. We are not there to see your gliders and a video is not really the same as seeing them in person. So, of course we are going to tell you to go to the vet. We would never be able to live with ourselves if something terrible happened to one of your gliders because we just blew off your concerns.

Do you know of any other glider owners in your area? Perhaps visiting with a more experienced owner frequently would settle some of your concerns.

Hang tight. We are working on that mentor for you.

thanks for putting me in my place about the drive and expenses... I'm not being rude, or sarcastic, but very sincere! I will admit when I am in the wrong or something, so thanks!

Anyways, I am not the only glider owner I know around here.. but amongst the ones I know that do have gliders.... unfortunately, "I" am the one "they" go to for advice. Also, they have male/female pairs, and they don't have their males neutered. That's another vent for another time though.
