Has anyone ever had a glider not want to at while using Baytril? It seems every time I use it, the glider just does not want to eat. They only seem to eat the things they can not resist like Yoggies, and well, we all know that is not going to help the glider if that is all they want to eat.

I know in Chinchilla's it will make them go off feed and you have to syringe feed them or they go into GI Stasis rather quickly.

Just want to see if anyone else ever noticed this besides me.

Baytril is so widely used that I imagine most everyone can provide some input. Dr. Walsh is not one to use baytril very often, so I don't have to deal with it much, but yes, I can say when I think back to the times I HAVE used it that after a few days, appetite drops significantly.

Great topic!

Val can you ask Dr. Walsh his opinion next time you see him? It would be nice to here what a Dr has to say about this also.

TY.

Anytime I have had to have gliders on antibiotics, their appetite has been poor. I do not know if it is a result of their illness/injury or the antibiotics themselves. I would also be interested in hearing what Dr. Walsh says.

I'll be seeing him within the next 2 weeks, so I will ask.

not like Ive had alot of gliders on antibiotics but have noticed when I did give baytril a significant decrease in appetite although I tend to over-treat the treats to make up for it

I know that when I take antibiotics, my tummy gets very upset and stays that way. I tend to not want to eat. And it's worse if I do the antibiotics on an empty tummy. So I imagine that it is similar for our babies. Antibiotics are harsh on the digestive system, all the way from when you eat them, until when you expel them.
