About 3 years ago this came up, but I have not seen much talk about it since then.

So, I thought we could revisit the idea of magnet therapy for sugar gliders. At the SGGA in 2008, I and several others had some gliders treated with magnet therapy and I can tell you only what I witnessed and what others reported. Some reported a change in behavior with aggressive gliders almost immediately. I treated a glider with a wound with it and noted swelling to decrease measurably. Many of us saw a glider that was injured at that SGGA get treated and his swelling also decreased considerably.

There is training involved in using the magnets, so don't everyone run off and just start doing things on your own. Here is some information that Linda Sardou provided on another of my forums following that SGGA:

Quote :
I have been working with magnetic therapy for over 15 years now. My background has been in the field of Medical Research at the University of Arizona.
In summary, our work entailed studying the Biological, Psychological, and Physiological effects of Static Magnetic Fields. In all 3 categories, our findings have proven to be remarkable on all levels with no known side effects to date.
I'm currently working towards obtaining FDA approval which will allow us to treat individuals through non-conventional medicine acceptance from the AMA.
The scientific explanation is lengthy, so I will summarize by saying that the magnetic field acts as a catalyst to remove the negative energies that are surrounding the cellular structures (the cytoskeleton) those energies are masses of iron deposits which hamper the growth of new cells. Since iron is paramagnetic, the magnetic field breaks those iron deposits away from the cells and redistributes it through the system to their proper orders.
We have discovered that with emotional trauma(s) the magnetic field will aid in balancing the emotional body by releasing those imbedded memories from the muscles/nerves and cells. In this particular process I incorporate Ultrasound, music and color.
I have since leaving AZ, been working with many different animals. Currently I am treating several sugar gliders with many different problems - physical and emotional.
If anyone is interested in learning more, please feel free to contact me. I will be more than happy to discuss and or help in anyway possible.
In summary, my goal is to be able to treat and heal as many of these sweet little babies that I can.
I've seen many miracles, including with one of my own gliders.

My Haley went through the magnet therapy that Linda offers. Haley was a very on edge glider and the smallest of things would stress her out. Haley's emotional distress was so intense that she couldn't be in the glider room, nor could there be everyday sounds like a tv and such around her. Just the everyday sounds of life around her, would make her cry/stress her out. Haley wasn't cured over night of her emotional imbalance, we used the magnets on a regular basis for quite a few years of trial and error and gradually got Haley back to a happy state of mind. I am happy to say that Haley once again is back in the glider room and off her magnets. It's only been a few months of rejoining the glider room, which in the past only lasted a few months as well but I'm hopeful. Haley hasn't over groomed in over a year, she has been keeping a healthy weight level and I haven't heard her cries of stress with outside noise/activity around her. I was always afraid of the day if Haley ever needed a new cage mate- to my surprise she happily joined a pair of girls a few months back and has been doing great. I have started to wonder, could part of Haley's emotional distress been due to her mate, even though I never saw any kind of signs of that being the cause- either way without the magnet therapy, I don't think Haley would have become the happy little girl she has finally become. If Comet was the cause of her stress and not her surroundings, I think the magnets are what kept her together, without them I think she would have given up.
