| Most of you are familiar with Spencer. Thursday(Tomorrow) he goes in for anesthesia, probable further amputation of the penis, Surgical laser, Bloodwork, urine culture, and whatever else comes up. I pray all goes well for him and that this vicious cycle of mutilation will be over soon!! So Thursday morning please say a little prayer for Spencer please, he is my heart! *insert praying smilie here* Thanks for your input val! | |

| TY all so much. He was able to obtain a blood sample to send off for cbc/blood chemistry /electrolytes, he got a good amt of urine from his bladder to send off for culture and sensitivity. He inspected his penis and stuff with his light and did not see anything out of the ordinary. Since Spencers prior penis amputation was to the "Y" Spencer has obviously done more damage cause some of the Y is gone but looks clean so no laser. He was on the phone with Dr. Fronefeld most of the time as he did the original penis amputation. Spencer was a good boy! | |

| wow, been awhile since you guys have had a Spencer update. I have Spencer controlled with pain meds and relaxers at this time which tells me it is discomfort somewhere in his cloaca rather than in his head. When he starts going after himself, I revamp his meds under the care of my vet. Spencer wears the ejacket, just not as much. Spencer also has a cagemate. last spring I rescued a little glider named Stretch(He is always stretching out flat). I had him neutered. I carried them both on me and they started talking to each other and stuff so I gave in and they have been happy ever since, there IS a glider for every one, lol So for now we are in a good place. | |

| Glad he healed up quickly. Are you keeping any kind of diary on Spencer, to see if any things are in common before he hurts himself? Art | |

| Its just so sporadic. I did not not take the jacket off of him for any length of time for 3 days after he mutilated. Then I started taking it off again and its been 3 days and had his jacket off all day for past 3 days! | |

| That's good news for 3 days. keep it up Spence...being good boy.
Do you keep track of what you feed and when you change pouches or cage items? How about times you carry him around for the day? treats you feed that day or the day before he starts? If when in the jacket you can tell when he is uncomfortable or when he is out of it and starts chewing himself.... I would suggest seeing if there is any things in common.

| Art, in 4 years of this, none of the above things are common. I have logged and relogged this mutilation situaton. I know you are brainstorming, love it. It is a sporadic mutilation, quick and precise. i have no proof but i suspect a misfiring or "angry nerve". Yesterday was day 4.

| fat and sassy, Art. Mutilation is still sporatic and does not seem triggered by any one thing. I posted some pics on GC. He is up to 170 grams, which is what he weighed before he started failing to thrive late last winter when he dropped down to 110 grams so I would rather he have a fat cushion in case he starts that again. He and Stretch get along fabulously still. | |
