Merlin is GROSS!!!

I don't know what else to call it, he's just gross! He's my only male, neutered, living in an 18 X 30 X 55 inch flight cage with my twin WF girls. He's a leu, and he is just nasty! Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed that his coat isn't as white as it was, and now he is starting to feel sticky and he's kinda smelly too.

Ready for the kicker? The top of his head, where the bald spot would be is he wasn't neutered, it's starting to flatten out and the hair is parting like it a bald spot is coming in. WTH?????

Nothing has changed: no new gliders, no new food other than a few new veggies added into the smoothie. All of the other gliders are clean and sweet smelling. He's acting normal, playing, eating, running in the wheel and he weighs 102 grams. I checked my weight charts, the last entry I have is from January and he weighed 80 grams, but he was still really young then, so he's right on target.

I figure you're all gonna tell me to run to the vet. But maybe not, is he maybe just having a hormonal change. Do neutered males do that? Is he maybe just being lazy with grooming? HELP! LOL

There shouldn't be any reason why he'd go through a hormonal change since he's neutered. Some of my neutered males keep a very faint looking bald spot after being neutered, sounds like that may be the case with him and it's just looking more prominent because something else is going on.

What's your diet/what are you feeding? Even though he's been on it for quite some time, it may not be right for him and he could be showing the long term effects of that, even though no one else is having any issues.

What kind of feeding dish are you using? Could it be he's getting into it too much? Could they be having spats over the food and he's getting it on him from the girls?

Are they going potty in the pouch? Even with frequent pouch changing, the little amount of time they are in a pouch with urine, the fur will absorb the scent/color. I have this issue with one of my cages- the girls potty in the pouch and the leu is getting stained because of it. Why they are pottying in the pouch, is a mystery to me.

I'd also look into getting a fecal- can never be too safe

Yeah, at the very least I will be carrying a fecal and urine sample into the vet, as a precaution.

His coat is a UNIFORM sticky, not splotchy or matted like he got food on him. He kind of feels like tack cloth if you have ever used it.
